Blockchain + Healthcare: Fidelity Labs hosts Convergence

By Kate Stover

Impact. Transform. Disrupt.

The interaction of blockchain technologies with robotics, 3D printing, artificial intelligence, machine learning and the Internet of Things (IoT) will revolutionize the healthcare industry. But how?

On Thursday, May 4, at the Fidelity Labs headquarters in Boston, we will be learning about these issues and more at the Convergence Roadshow, a global community exploring the junction of these emerging technologies. Convergence, an international meetup run by Outlier Ventures in London, brings together thinkers and doers around the world to consider the implications of blockchain technologies. Thursday’s event—Convergence in Healthcare—will focus on the impact of these technologies on the healthcare industry.

While participants and guest panelists discuss the potential transformation to the healthcare industry from blockchain and other emerging technologies, we are doing our own blockchain research right down the hallway.

Under a separate collaboration, we recently joined the Initiative for CryptoCurrencies & Contracts, known as IC3. With IC3, we will collaborate with faculty at prominent universities and domain experts to explore how blockchain-based technologies can improve the future of financial systems. Headquartered at the Jacobs-Technion Center at Cornell Tech in New York City, IC3 represents an exciting collaboration between academia and industry, and we are thrilled to be part of it.

What is most exciting about blockchain is that it’s full of possibilities. We are excited to learn from our friends and colleagues in the blockchain community.
